GIS/IT Specialist
General Description: The Consolidated Mosquito Abatement District is seeking a skilled and dynamic GIS/IT Specialist to join our team. Under the direction of the District Manager and supervision of the Office Administrator, this position is responsible for the regular operation and maintenance of the District’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and implementing IT system advancements to enhance District operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain electronic and paper maps, update surveillance routes, and manage spatial data records using GIS applications. Collect, assemble, and verify spatial and temporal data to support the District’s control and surveillance programs. Maintain and update public-facing and internal datasets, maps, and dashboards. Manage and update the District’s websites and public-facing resources.
Set up and install computer systems and software for staff, recommend system upgrades, and manage inventory of field devices and technology. Prepare various reports related to equipment, material use, and spatial summaries. Provide GIS-related training and support to staff, ensuring effective use of field equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field with GIS experience. Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, good communication skills, and the ability to work congenially and cooperatively with others.
Salary and Benefits: Salary schedule $6,560 – $7,765 per month, plus a benefits package (CalPERS retirement, medical, dental, vision, Rx, vacation, sick leave, holidays).
