|Request Spray Notification for Adult Insecticide Applications
This form is ONLY for notification of when insecticide applications for adult mosquitoes are made. It is NOT A REQUEST FOR SPRAYING. Adulticide applications are ultra-low volume (ULV) spray applications of an EPA registered insecticide from a truck targeting adult mosquitoes. Weather permitting, the District will make insecticide applications to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes in response to disease risk or in response to extremely high numbers of adult mosquitoes. The decision to make an adulticide application is based on surveillance data. Surveillance data includes mosquitoes collected by various trapping methods, mosquito test results and reports from the Fresno County Department of Public Health on suspected mosquito-borne disease cases. The decision to make an application is made on the same day the surveillance data is available. In most cases we cannot provide more than a few hours of notification, but the District will work to provide the earliest notification possible. In rare instances, surveillance information may come so late in the day that prior notification is not possible. At present, the District can accommodate spray notification request by calling residents near or adjacent to (within 300 feet) of the truck spray path. If the number of residents requesting notification becomes unmanageable with our current staff, this procedure will change. Notifications will then go out to all residents who have made a spray notification request that an application will be made, regardless of the resident’s proximity to the application. It will be up to the resident to check if their neighborhood will be targeted for adult control on the adult control treatment map on our website (link below). Residents will be notified if this change in notification method is made. The District will also post notifications
and on Next Door.
